March 1 Arrives Like A Lamb (Or Maybe A Lion If You Count The Wind!)
A sunny, warm and windy day is on tap for us Saturday. Highs will stretch from the upper 50s to the middle 60s across the Kansas City area.
Changes start to happen overnight around midnight...a cold front is on the approach. And due to this cold front, it will allow us to hit our high temperature in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday. It won't be a sudden drop throughout the day. Fifties for the morning to the 40s by afternoon. In addition to the drop in temperature, showers and thunderstorms are possible late Sunday afternoon through the evening. You'll see much more by evening than you will through the afternoon hours. Looks like Oklahoma and northern Texas will be under the gun for severe storms - hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. Flooding is a concern here at home due to the already saturated ground and the potential for a lot of rain.
By midnight Monday morning, the colder air is here. There will probably be a brief period of sleet before becoming all snow. Snowfall amounts are too early to determine at this time. But, with the warmer temperatures of the last few days, what initially falls will melt. We might have snow still coming down for the Monday AM Rush...by noon, the storm should be history.
Tuesday through Saturday will be fairly quiet. One minor disturbance passes through Oklahoma and Texas on Wednesday. This will give us clouds. During this time period, don't count on the warm temperatures like this weekend. We'll see highs Tuesday through Saturday in the 30s and 40s.
