First Day of Winter...
Talk about a busy month...getting ready for the holidays...and oh yeah! The third winter storm, for the third weekend in a row, is moving in right now. Seems like we can't get a weekend of decent weather lately. But, after all, winter is officially here.
We've watched this winter storm take shape across southwestern Kansas this morning. Very heavy snow has been falling from around Wichita and West to Dodge City. Between 9AM and noon, there could be some rain showers trying to mix with snow or even sleet. After noon, the snow will be here and last through the afternoon...and into this evening. By 8 or 9PM, the heaviest snow should taper to flurries. Still keeping snowfall accumulations in the neighborhood through Sunday morning with 2 to 4" across most of the Metro. Winds will also pick up and cause whiteout conditions this afternoon and evening. Travel could be impacted by this, along with last-minute Christmas shoppers.
By midnight, this storm is out of here. Sunshine will return slowly on Sunday. Quiet both Monday and Tuesday. Another system brings snow on Wednesday...followed by yet another one on Friday.
So, there are still a few more opportunities for snow through the start of next year. Nothing is stopping these storms from entering the Pacific Coast and heading our way.
Enjoy the snow and Happy Holidays!
